Our Curriculum
Intent
Our curriculum is designed to support every child to become a confident, resilient and curious learner. Rooted in a nurturing approach, we recognise that children learn best when they feel safe, valued and emotionally secure. We aim to provide a balanced curriculum that values both child-led exploration and purposeful adult-led learning, ensuring all children make progress across the Early Years Foundation Stage.
We view children as active participants in their learning. Their interests, fascinations and individual needs inform our planning, allowing learning to be meaningful, engaging and inclusive. Our curriculum promotes independence, creativity and a love of learning, while supporting children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
Curriculum Implementation
Our curriculum is delivered through high-quality interactions, play-based learning and a carefully planned environment, which we view as the third teacher.
-
Child-led learning is at the heart of our practice. Children are given time and space to explore, investigate and lead their own learning through play. Practitioners observe children closely to understand their interests and developmental stages, using these observations to shape future learning opportunities.
-
Adult-led learning is planned intentionally to introduce new knowledge, skills and vocabulary. Practitioners skilfully scaffold learning, extend thinking and challenge children appropriately, while remaining responsive to individual needs and interests.
-
The learning environment is thoughtfully designed to encourage curiosity, independence and collaboration. Resources are accessible, open-ended and inclusive, supporting sustained shared thinking both indoors and outdoors. Calm, well-organised spaces help children feel secure and confident to explore.
-
Nurturing relationships underpin all aspects of our curriculum. Practitioners prioritise emotional wellbeing, modelling positive behaviour and supporting children to develop strong social and communication skills.
-
Partnership with families ensures continuity of learning. We value parents and carers as children’s first educators and work closely with them to support each child’s development.
Curriculum Impact
As a result of our curriculum, children develop strong foundations for lifelong learning. They become confident communicators, independent thinkers and enthusiastic learners who are emotionally secure and ready for the next stage of their education.
Children leave our setting with:
-
A positive sense of self and wellbeing
-
Secure relationships and social skills
-
Curiosity, resilience and independence
-
The knowledge and skills needed to meet the Early Learning Goals
-
And so much more.....
Our curriculum ensures every child is supported, challenged and celebrated as an individual, enabling them to thrive within a nurturing and inspiring early years environment
